Playing in a park & stargazing on a monday

The day that camp ends.

You would expect that a bunch of YSA who had attended camp would be completely exhausted, stuffed & ready for bed.

And you're right.  We were.  But this did not stop us from hanging out some more.

At about 10pm, Collette, Hayden and I rocked up at Coll's house.  Here we picked up Jess.  From there we went to the Honey's house and collected Chad.

"What are we going to do?" I hear you ask...

We are going to a park to play on the play equipment! (Yes yes, I know, we are adults, not children...but who cares!)

So we rock up to the Newstead Reserve...where we are kindly reminded by the sign that we are not allowed to play golf here.  Good thing we didn't want to play!

Collette and Jess jump on the swings straight away (we love swings).

Chad, being the boy that he is, climbs to the top of the play equipment hut thing.

So, we got sick of the park pretty quickly.

"Let's go stargazing at the Gorge!" someone suggests.

So we make a quick stop at the Mitchell's (my parents place) on the way to collect blankets (I didn't do a very good job with the blanket collecting as only grabbed a doona and one blanket).

We get to the Gorge, pick out a spot, lay down on the doona and begin stargazing and talking and laughing hysterically at everything because we are so so so tired and everything just automatically becomes hilarious!

This is Chad wrapped up in one of the blankets.  He was warm, while the rest of us...not quite so warm.

As we were laying on the grass...All of a sudden these two bright lights are shone in our faces.  These two people start talking to us and we are all thinking "who the heck are these people".  The lights get closer, and then we all have the same realisation at the same time..."Oh! You're cops!"
Yes...we had a visit from the police.  They were just checking out the Gorge to make sure nothing dodgey was happening up there, and they took our names and stuff so that we could be witnesses or be the ones blammed if anything happened.

So they ask us for ID.  Chad and Hayds have it on them, so they give it to them.  Then Collette and Jess give them their names.  Then it is my turn.

Cop:  "What's your name?"

Me:  "Camilla Mitchell"

Cop:  "What's your middle name?"

Me:  "Bessie" (everyone on blankets begins to snicker)

Cop:  "You're kidding me right?" (language has been changed)

Me:  "No...really...it's Bessie."

Cop:  "Is she joking?" (He says to everyone else)

Then they all convince him that I'm not joking.

So yes, I know I have an odd, weird, amusing middle name.  But I like it.  And it has history and family meaning behind it, so it's cool.  By this time though, we were all in hysterics even more so than we had been already.

But wait...there is more!

At 12.00 on the dot, we hear a strange noise.  Ahh! it's the sprinklers!! We moved pretty quick smart out of the way, and we all survived without getting wet, and we start to head up the hill to the car when...

Hayden:  "Where's my wallet.  And one of my thongs?"

Yes...Hayds had left his wallet and thong on the grass.  so by the light of our phones, we begin scouting out the area, trying to find where we had been sitting, all getting wet from the sprinklers.  Hooray for Jess who found the missing items!!

And that was our Monday night Adventure in the Gorge!!
