Mary and Milla Journey to the West of Australia

A few weeks ago (27th Jan) Mary and myself headed off on a journey across the country to Perth!!! Neither of us had ever been to Perth, had always wanted to, and met some cool kids from perth on convention.  So off we went!!

We flew out from Melbourne on the night of the 27th, leaving Melbourne at 8.40pm. We arrived in Perth at 11pm Perth time (which is 1am our time).  When we got there, our friend Shaun picked us up at the airport and we went to one of his mates places, Jarom, to meet him and just hang for a bit, which was cool.  Got to bed pretty late - about 1.30am (which felt like 3.30am!!)

Wednesday - day one:

We woke up VERY early - at about 6 o'clockish - so we could head into the city with Shaun on his way to work....

We had heard a story from a perthian (?) about them laughing at someone who came to visit for the first time and taking photos of all the stuff that grew in sand (because there is sand EVERYWHERE in Perth).  So we took a photo of the first then we really paid attention to growing in the sand....

(he he - yes we realise it is a tiny piece of grass!)

Then while walking up to Kings Park from the city, we saw the funnest stop sign....

...a bit of Mc Hammer!!

Here we have a view of Perth city...

...from the bridge that crosses from the city over to the hill leading up to Kings Park.

We discovered a Frangipani tree...

...they really exist! I have never seen one before!! It was slightly exciting!!

Us and Perth!

The view from Kings park was amazing!!!

Perth!

The war memorial in the park

And this very cool bridge in the park - and I still can't get over
how BIG Kings Park is!! It was a very cool place!!

So me and Mary spent the first morning roaming around Kings Park by ourselves, after catching the train in from Joondalup (where we were staying with our friend Shaun), and venturing up to the park from the City all by ourselves!!

We caught up for lunch with our friend Dwain, and had Indian in Subiaco with him.  Dwain then showed us around his uni campus as he was on break from doing some stuff at school. UWA is a very cool uni - really pretty!! I liked it!

After hanging with Dwain, he dropped us back in to the city, where we did a bit (!!!) of shopping :-)

We then caught the train back to the Glendalough train station to meet Shaun after work.  We caught the train and bus back to Shaun's place.

That night we headed out to Yenchep lagoon to watch the sunset - and mucked around out there for a bit taking photos!!

Me, Mares and Shaun...

Me and Mares at the lagoon.

Yay for being in Perth!!

The gorgeous sunset!!

That night after the lagoon we went back to Shaun's to watch movies and just hang out.  One day down - six to go!!
