We left Melbourne on Thursday the twentieth of November at about 11.30am, to fly to Auckland, New Zealand. We flew Air New Zealand (which were super good and had AMAZING service). We got in to Auckland about 3 and a half hours later, waited around for about an hour or so, then changed planes for the big trip to San Francisco, California. The flight was a pretty good one, an added bonus of flying with the parentals is that we flew premium economy - which has a crazy amount of leg room (SO good), and we were sitting in the "bubble" upstairs of the plane, and we had the same service as business class, and the super yummy good food, and REAL cutlery - so fun!
On the plane
So the plane trip was about 12 hours from Auckland to San Francisco. I watched a few movies, read some of my book, had a bit of a sleep, woke up for breaky and then had a couple hours to go til we landed in San Fran. We got in at 10.30am on thursday the twentieth ( technically before we even left!)
When we got to our motel (the Hilton in the Financial District), and had a nap for a couple hours. Then we headed out for the rest of the day.
We started a "hop on-hop off" tour, and zipped around the majority of San Fran. We stopped down at Pier 39 and had a wander around at all the cool shops and all the touristy stuff. We saw a sign in one shop that said "All McCain and Palin Merchandise - 70% off" - hahaha crack up! We looked at some of the big touristy sights - saw Alcatraz from a distance,
and saw the seals that have taken up residence on the wharf, after a big earthquake, forcing the fisherman to all move to another wharf, as they could not get the seals to go back into the water and stay there.

We grabbed lunch/dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe (yummmmm) and then jumped on the rest of the tour and ended up in Union Square, which is kinda like the centre of San Fran. We saw some cool stuff, with one of the coolest things being this awesome house, which was falling apart and I think it was condemned, and it had been bought by this artist, and he had turned it into a piece of artwork. It was way cool, it had furniture and appliances "falling" out of the windows! It looked amazing. But I have to apologise because the photos don't really do it justice.
When we got in to Union Square we wandered around some of the shops and the square and had a look at the ice skating rink they have set up in the middle, and the cool christmas tree that is donated every year by Macy's, and they decorate it all up for christmas, but it was only about half decorated when we were there, but the lights on it looked really cool.
The next day we finished off our tour. We went past a catholic church, which funnily had the street address 666. Crack up! The number of the church is written really small over the door so as not to draw attention to a church being positioned at the devil's number on the street! (he he). We went for a ride on a cable car from down at fisherman's wharf, over Lombard street (the crookedest street in San Fran), and all the way down in to union square.
We went back along the cable car route, and jumped off at Lombard street, and went for a walk down it. It was very cool. This one section of the street has eight hairpin turns, which were originally put in because the street was too steep, and it was to stoop vehicles going down it too fast. The speed limit on the hill is 5 mph (which is like...8 kph) - Crazy!! It looks really cool though!!

In the afternoon we went on a tour over the Golden Gate Bridge. It was awesome. It is SO massive and it looks amazing. Love it. And the view of San Fran from the other side of the bridge is fantastic. I loved it.
That night we went shopping up in union square in nordstroms, bloomingdales, macys etc etc. It was fun, and we bought a few things (of course).
The next day we flew out of San Fran to Orlando, Florida - via Atlanta, Georgia. It was a long flight. Roughly four hours to Atlanta, and another hour to Orlando from there.
